OVERVIEW:
Inspector Morse is a British detective drama television series based on a series of novels by Colin Dexter.
It starred Award winning actor John Thaw as Detective Chief Inspector Morse, a melancholy, enigmatic and romantic Inspector who never uses his first name and who finds solace in real ale, classical music and difficult crosswords. Morse uses his considerable intellect and passion for truth and justice.
Kevin Whately starred as Sergeant Lewis.
The series was produced between 6 January 1987 and 15 November 2000.

In 2000, the series was ranked 42 on the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes compiled by the British Film Institute.
In 2018, the series was named the greatest British crime drama of all time by Radio Times readers.
Author Colin Dexter made uncredited cameo appearances in all but three of the episodes.
